ROOM 11 : WORM FARM STUDY

We were introduced to facts about compost worms

We worked in groups and looked at small worms through the magnifying glass.  Some of us found the babies.  We learnt about different materials that go into making the worm farm and types of food good and not so good  for the worms.

Each group presented information on what we learnt.

We now have a 'Worm Nursery' in our classroom and we all help to feed, clean, keep wet, and keep alive our baby compost worms.

HOW TO MAKE NOODLES HEALTHY : FROM GARDEN TO TABLE : RUMA 11

We decided to have a shared lunch today and after we gave it some thought about what students' like eating ..............NOODLES!
we then set about to MAKE NOODLES HEALTHY  &  MORE INTERESTING  to  eat.

In our school garden you can find some  Pak Choi, Lettuce, Parsely - purrrfect for our SUPA  HEALTHY DISH...

Picked then washed....

The whole class participated in chopping up these 'deluscious' (one of our new and interesting words), crisp and fresh vegetables.

Then we cooked the well chopped 'deluscious', crisp, and fresh vegetables .....  sauteed lightly in a drop of oil.

After adding the 'delicately' cooked crisp and fresh vegetables to the noodles..............

It was time to EAT.....SO all sat down to eat at the table.  Yumm!  and Purrrrfect  for  a  HEALTHY NOODLE  LUNCH AT K.W.S.

From  our  KWS  Garden  to the  Table 😇
mmmmmmm it smelt ... SO FRESH!

ROOM 11 : STEM CHALLENGE : 26 MAY 2017

The Stem challenge was put across the whole school and we had to get students to either work together or build something on their own within the time-frame of one hour.  We chose THE ART OF  'FINGER KNITTING'.

Our class used the end products for our Pangarau (Maths) strand - 'Te Ine - (Measurement).

It was an amazing hour as ALL students just got on with the challenge;  those who normally find it difficult to sit for longer than 5 minutes were absolutely engrossed in their task - TINO PAI TAMARIKI KATOA.
